Custom Programming
We prefer to use Visual Basic for most programming because
it delivers the most value in terms of application features for dollar spent. We have also developed VB techniques
to improve the performance of your application. For Visual Studio.NET, we prefer C# because of its lucidity and
flexibility. For certain tasks which require the ultimate performance, we will use Borland Delphi because of its
superior speed and ease of programming compared to Visual C++.
Web site design and programming
We use a design/prototype/build method that allows our
customers to be active participants in the web site development process. We use Active Server Pages (ASP) for most
programming tasks, using either VBScript or JScript as the language. We use DHTML and CSS to give the interactive
look and feel web users have come to expect. In some circumstances, we have found that the performance and capabilities
of ASP is lacking, and we will develop custom ActiveX components in VB to compensate. We also can develop tools
for automating web site maintenance.
Web Services
Web services comprise an effective new method for data
transfer and transaction management across enterprise boundaries. We have explored this new technology and will
recommend it if it seems like the best alternative for your needs.
Databases
Whether you choose MS SQL Server, MSDE, MS Access, XML
or even flat files, we have the tools and techniques to effectively model and manage your data. For relational
databases, we use entity-relationship modeling and adhere to Codd normalization practices. Your database performance
and scalability are important to us, and we make judicious use of indexing and extensive stored procedure testing
to ensure maximum throughput.
MS Office Integration
Because of the popularity of MS Office on the desktop,
we offer solutions to extend the capabilities of MS Office applications to meet your particular needs. This can
include automated Word and Excel document generation, integration between Office and non-Office data sources, document
conversions, and Windows-to-Web transitions. We use a variety of techniques to accomplish your Office integration
solution, including VBA, Windows Scripting, and Visual Basic.
